What is Acupuncture?

The basic theory behind acupuncture is that the body has an energy force (qi) that runs through a system of channels under the skin. When this flow of energy becomes obstructed or unbalanced, illness occurs. By inserting very fine needles into the skin at specific points to stimulate the nerve impulses, acupuncture can restore the body’s balance and illness can be successfully treated. Does Acupuncture Hurt?

Traditional or classical acupuncture involves the use of very fine needles placed at specific points on the body. Although some patients may feel a slight ‘tingling’ or a dull heaviness, for most patients the treatment is typically painless. Feelings of deep relaxation or being energised occur during and after the treatment.
